AUSTRALIA’S FIRST NEW TARMAC RALLY IN OVER A DECADE

Australia hasn’t seen a brand-new tarmac rally in almost ten years, until now...

The Great Alpine Rally makes its thrilling debut on 28–29 March 2026 at Falls Creek, Victoria, offering competitors the rare chance to race on roads never used in motorsport.

Over two adrenaline-fuelled days, crews will tackle almost 400 kilometres of competitive tarmac across, navigating the legendary Bogong High Plains Road from Mt Beauty to Falls Creek, over the summit, and to the Omeo Highway. With rapid straights, tight hairpins, and sweeping alpine bends, competitors will be tested like never before.

A standout feature of the rally is the 35-kilometre back section of the Bogong High Plains Road, closed to the public in winter. This pristine, never-before-rallied tarmac offers a unique challenge and a once-in-a-lifetime racing experience.

Brittany Wilson, Event Director of Australian Tarmac Rally, said: "Falls Creek approached us to bring a rally to the mountain, and we jumped at the chance. The Great Alpine Rally is exactly what modern tarmac rallying should be: world-class stages, stunning scenery, and a true test for competitors. It’s the perfect setting for Australia’s first new tarmac rally in over a decade."

Following the revival of the Mt Buller Sprint in February 2026, the Great Alpine Rally marks ATR’s boldest expansion yet, cementing its role in growing high-level competitive tarmac rallying across Australia.

Entry applications for the first two events of 2026 are now open via the WOLF Sports Platform, with entry applications opening for the Snowy River Sprint and the first-ever 3-day Great Tarmac Rally on 31 March.

  • Mt Buller Sprint – 13 - 15 February 2026

  • Great Alpine Rally – 28–29 March 2026

  • Snowy River Sprint – 12 – 13 September 2026
