PRESS RELEASE: AUSTRALIAN TARMAC RALLY REBRANDS UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP

Mountain Motorsports has today announced the sale of the Australian Tarmac Rally Championship,  and is to be re-branded as ATR – Australian Tarmac Rally, a company backed by tarmac rally enthusiasts.

Australian Tarmac Rally Pty Limited has purchased all 4 current events run under the Mountain Motorsports banner - including the iconic Great Tarmac Rally, Mt Baw Baw Sprint, Lake Mountain Sprint and Snowy River Sprint.

Since 2012, Mountain Motorsports has produced value for money, top level tarmac rallies throughout Victoria.

Commenting on the sale, Peter Washington from Mountain Motorsports says “Ursula and I are very excited for the next chapter of Australian Tarmac Rally, being able to see the events and brand taken to the next level, and we are excited to come along for the journey”

"We are very excited to continue the long tradition of Tarmac Rallying in not only Victoria, but Australia-wide. With the recent tough times, we are hoping this will give people some light at the end of the tunnel and something to look forward to. We have some great plans for the events, and we are looking forward to growth in the years ahead” - ATR Executive Director, Brittany Smith

Australian Tarmac Rally will also be breaking down barriers, being the first fully owned female motorsport event management company.

ATR will also continue their strong relationship with AASA going forward, focusing on growing current events, while producing new Tarmac Rally events in the coming years.  AASA Business Manager and Spokesperson, Stephen Whyte, has today expressed his delight in the news, saying how the team are eager to expand on the already great relationship between AASA and Mountain Motorsports. “We would like to thank Peter and Ursula for their many years of commitment to AASA through Mountain Motorsports.  We are very pleased to continue as sanctioning partner to the new management team at ATR with all their current events. The AASA look forward to working on these and new, exciting projects in the future with the ATR team.” The team at ATR, whilst small, have a combined 14 years in the Tarmac Rally world. From competing, to volunteering, to working the world-renowned Targa Tasmania.

Along with a newly built website, refreshed brand and event logos, ATR will be in a great position to inform and encourage all Tarmac Rally enthusiasts, to be a part of our motorsport family.

"Our focus here at ATR, will be to continue to provide challenging, exhilarating and affordable tarmac rallies, with an emphasis on friendship and fun. I am personally thrilled to again be interacting with so many like-minded motorsport enthusiasts, and I really look forward to working with all competitors and participants to provide great tarmac rally experiences now, and at all future ATR events.” ATR Executive Director Pamela Stables;

Snowy River Sprint 2020 (Lakes Entrance/Buchan Region) will be held on Saturday 19th - Sunday 20th September and The Great Tarmac Rally (Marysville/TBC Region) dates are yet to be announced.
